Behind the Scenes: Martin Concrete Pre-Con Team Visits Chastain Crossing Project

At Martin Concrete, our commitment to precision and excellence starts long before the first slab is poured. Our Pre-Con team recently had the opportunity to visit the Chastain Crossing project site in Kennesaw, GA, and the experience was nothing short of impressive. This site visit was essential for our team to transition from viewing projects as mere drawings to visualizing the complete building process in detail.

Why Site Visits Matter

Site visits are more than just a routine check—they are an opportunity to bridge the gap between the estimating process and execution. By immersing ourselves in the project environment, we can address potential challenges and refine our approach for future projects. This proactive approach helps us properly identify design challenges and be able to streamline the bidding process. Our goal is to ensure our customers receive an unequalled customer experience from the very start.

Project Overview: A Glimpse of Chastain Crossing

The Chastain Crossing project is a two-building campus featuring a total of:

  • 440,180 SF of Slab on Grade
  • 87,600 SF of Dock Aprons: These dock aprons are designed to withstand heavy use while facilitating efficient movement and logistics operations
  • 112,627 SF of Exterior Concrete Paving: This paving not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the project but also ensures durability and functionality in high-traffic areas.
  • 138 Tilt-Up Panels: All panels were erected by our sister company Full Tilt Crane Services allowing our team the flexibility of erection sequencing and schedule.

Looking Ahead

As the Chastain Crossing project progresses, our Pre-Con and Project Management teams will continue to work closely with general contractor, Vardaman Construction and their team to ensure that every phase of construction meets our high standards. We’re excited to see this project come to life and are proud to be part of its journey.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to make strides on this remarkable project. For now, here’s a sneak peek from our recent site visit!
